Here are a few of the portraits I drew from photographs I took at the Notting Hill Carnival. The carnival is all about colours, sound, smell etc. stimulating every single sense. But I chose to focus on physical traits and expressions with very clear, simple lines to express the atmosphere and mood of the crowd.
1st picture: a girl wearing a 60s style talking to her friend in the crowd
2nd picture: a girl sitting on the pavement in a costume posing for my photo
3rd picture: woman working at a stand to sell jerk chicken. they were taking their time. i waited 45 mins with 10 people to get my food. but it was worth it!
